Samui must hate me….
Posted by tmz_99 on March 17th, 2006 filed in UncategorizedWell,my last night here was the peiece the resitance…. I decided that a nice safe night in my hotel room drinking, eating watermellon and watching movies with Sam wasthe way to go… little did I know what Samui had in stock for me. After sampling some delicious Lychee and Bacardi much to my surpise I found out something new about myself – I’m seemingly allergic to Lychee… my whole body is now encrusted in a rough rash – my whole body. Not only is this inconveniant but highly un-amusing. No matter, I’m on my way to a lcoal pharmacy to see what they can do for me….. and then, off home.. 🙂
Final musings on Samui
Pluses:
+ Full moon party
+ Watersports
+ Scenery
+ Weather
Minuses
– Not all that cheap (Bangkok is far cheaper, both to fly to and to live, as is bali)
– Dodgyness (I felt safer in Bangkok)
– Too many tourists, especially europeans who can’t handle their liquour
– My apperant vunlebilities to the local illnesses.
This adds up to “Visit Koh Samui, if only to go to the full moon party, better yet, stay on Koh Pah Gan instead and save yourself a packet and enjoy the more relaxing lifestyle. Koh Samui can only be compared to Bangkok because it’s Thailand, and hence offeres some thai-only expereinces; however it is far more akin to a shoddier version of bali. In other words, come once, if you like it I’m sure you’ll come again, otherwise go to Bali for the beach expereince, or Bangkok/Pattaya for the Thai experience”… I will return to Thailan in about 2 years time to visit Chang Mai, Issan and Bangkok in what I think will be my culmulative trip of the land of smiles.
