Nature of the insurance industry

So over the last 2-3 weeks I’ve been trying my darnest to get liability and also income protection insurance. I managed to finally find a broked willing to give me liability but the income protection is a no-go as I work offshore. Apperantly there is some stigmata that I’m going to go hurt myself, I mean come on! According to discovery chanel at least my job is no more dangerous then an Alaskan crab fisherman; and being in a supervisory position I’m usually pretty right unless the rig explodes or sinks, and the last big explosion I remember is the Piper Alpha.

This will be the death knell of my sub-contracting position as I can’t sub and not have insurance and will have to go direct hire, which will have a substantial negative impact on my income; but I love what I do and am on the right track to achieving what I wish to achieve.

I got my tyre replaced today, it appears I need two more, at $200 a pop I really need to get these wholesale. I use Federals, although they are at the cheaper end of the spectrum for my tyre size (I use a weird 17R/205/40 – something akin to a rubber band, fully inflated the walls are about an inch and a 1/2) they have held together with my driving for just on two years, and  have proved extremely grippy, being able to propel me around corners and my friend to a 12.2 quarter mile.. – highly recommended.

Stigmata – blood running out of the hands and feet as though nailed to a cross. Or do you mean stigma? Stigmata would hurt though so you are right on that account.

$200 for tyres that last two years. Wow. I wish. My Ford chews through tyres and I treat my car pretty well.
