The illusion of privacy.
Posted by tmz_99 on August 19th, 2006 filed in UncategorizedI was watching American Hot Rod, not 5 minutes ago (for anyone un-initiated it’s much like American Chopper, but with cars, and more guys in the workshop).
Boyd, the boss called one of the guys into his office for a private chat, becasue he had something to say that he was unable to say in front of everyone else, the irony being of course that he said it in front of TV viewers everywhere, and in fact in front of the crew (who would doubtlessly watch the show later on anyway). This brings in question just how much privacy any of us have at work, on a tv show or otherwise. Obviously using the net at work is not protected at all, although the goverment offers guidelines for workplace computer privacy there are no rules as such. Your boss owns your data, private or otherwise. How is your boss monitoring you?
Things here are pretty cruisy, we are drilling ahead and there isn’t much boat movement till early in the week, which has allowed me to get a few things tidied up on deck – a lot of the gear was displaced for storage to boats or nooks and cranies when we were well testing. I’m over my ebay addiction for now 🙂 Have started planning for home, at the moment I have 1 PC to repair down south and the test for my bike lisence is the day after I get back which is making me somewhat nervous.

I have to admit, I’m relieved that I have a home ‘pooter now. I don’t think our IT guys were bored enough to check out non-porn related sites or whatnot which we’d visit, but I still feel more comfortable being on my own pc.
