More nostelgia and something new

So today I started off by going to K-Mart in Henderson to catch up with Francis and Rachel, I’d learnt that a great tragedy has rocked their family a while ago with John being killed in a helicopter accident five years ago. My heart goes out to a family that has always been nothing but loving and neutering of myself.

Rachel it appears has moved to Sydney, so it’ll be someone that myself and Ben will have to catch up with in January for sure.

For lunch I went back into the city (surprisingly the casino is by FAR the cheapest place to park, 2 hrs costing me $3 after ticket validation). Went for lunch to Portos which is like a nandos, but dryer and not quite as nice.. apperantly starting from Bondi anyhow, so not exactly New Zealand cuisine.

Went and got what the locals call ‘party pills’, which is over the counter BZP (illegal in Australia), it has been legalised as an alternative to harder drugs, and I have to say, it isn’t as crap as I would have thought something legal to be.. 🙂

Then I took off to Westlake Boys (my old highschool) and got a visitors pass, walked around and snapped a few shots. A lot has changed there, especially architectually. The whole place seems a lot smaller, but then again, Auckland in general is a little smaller then I remember it. I’m not sure if it’s becasue I’ve grown, got used to something else or  if it really has shrunk very very slowly, so slowly in fact that the people living here haven’t realised. Had a great sit down and a talk with my old teacher Coleen Tonei, she was (and in fact still is) a teacher with an obvious passion for she does. A lot of changes have occured in the school in the last 7 years, so we had a fair bit to talk about. All in all the school visit was more then worth it.

Incidentally she informed me I was on TV a while back, apperantly they used some footage of me for some sort of speeding or drunk driving or some commercial of that sort. Nice to know my adventures have been at least somewhat immortalised in film; from what I understand the footage gets dragged out every now and again and re-used. Brilliant!

Going to meet Amy tonight for a few quick drinks, tomorrow go see Jesse (missed out today) and then off to the Wielemborek’s for dinner.
