Just about home.. time to make a list?
Posted by tmz_99 on December 17th, 2006 filed in UncategorizedYesterday was my mum’s bday, happy bday! (I rang her on the phone yesterday – so it’s not like I forgot, this is an additional bday greeting – maybe it’ll buy me some time next year 😉 ).
Once again my stay on this vessel is coming to an end and the silly season is just about to begin. This time home is going to be a hell of a rush.
Dave (Salty) arrived back on the rig the other day with a smile so wide that his head was about to split open; this time home he went across to Florida to arrange the purchase and shipping of his new boat. He got it off Ebay with a little help from myself and I got a pretty awesome shirt for the trouble – thanks Dave! Looks like Karma has struck again 🙂
Being that I’m still relatively new to my job, each time I’m out here I learn about tools that I haven’t really approached before, this usually comes around because of some weird circumstance (ie: for some reason we need to take the tool apart, or I’ve been asked to get it back into town and I don’t have a clue what people are talking about, taking a few days research before I find out what I need to know about it). This time it was the overshot fishing tool (can be fitted with different grapples as per picture below) and I learnt more about the indicator assembley inside the casing cutting tools – and that it’s fine for the tool to be operated without it.
An overshot fishing tool
- Buy BBQ
- Buy Xmas presents
- Buy outdoor setting
- Hold birthday BBQ
- Try to organise a fence (not sure if I’m going to build this myself yet – Im a bit short on tools (and I’ve never built a fence before)).
- Buy more bricks for paving
- Meet up with HB Plummage
- Go to Sydney
- Climb harbour bridge
- If there is Bungee, Jump it
- Dinner @ Kays
- Meet up with Rachel (two Rachel’s in Sydney, so both)
- Maybe go see a show at the Opera House – see what’s on
- Get really drunk and play games/go clubbing
- Watersports
And that about sums it up I think…… we’ll see what evantuates. Next time home of course = Japan… 🙂

Yeah, I’m a Christmas shopping procrastinator too.
