Choice….

I’m a little depressed this morning.. I think it’s somewhat based on what I want but don’t have yet, and what I had but no longer have… lol.. it’s all good – as the day gets busier I’m sure to get over myself.. 😛
It’s a little strange being single again – I have no desire to go back into another relationship any time in the near future, in fact I have a plan (don’t I always have a plan?) to stay single for around 12 months, do a little bit of travelling and get myself to a stage I’m happy. The last 12 or so months have made me stagnant and that’s one thing I’m not willing to forgive myself – but then again, it has been a good time non the less. 🙂

Out here on the rig there are very few choices we can make in our free time (and alas for some of us, very little free time).
There is the choice of what to do after work – having worked on rigs for a while now I have maximised my choices to
* the gym
* watching a movie (have a large library of movies out here)
* read a book or a magazine (I stock up before every trip)
* surf the net (I try to avoid this as I spend most of my day on a PC anyway)
* play games (I have a PSP out here with several games, as well as my laptop)
* go for a walk on the heli deck
All up it’s not a bad amount of choice but it’s hardly huge. Over the last few months I have been building up my supply of shower gels, deodorants and mouthwash. I now have 3 different shower gels, 2 different sets of toothpaste, 2 deodorants and 2 mouthwash flavours. It’s comforting to know that at the beginning and the end of my day I have another choice to make – something that allows a little variation to my personal time.
