Singing Stormy Weather

Well, it’s the same room, but everything’s different.
Today the weather has taken an unexpected turn for the worse, with rain and 30 knot winds, helicopters and boats aren’t coming in and I sit here looking out the window where the rig is cacooned in rain and fog. Even our weekly safety drill has been postponed (much to the men’s relief).

Last night was of course my weekly movie night 🙂 This week’s movie?

Hellraiser: Deader

This movie is a work of genius, or rahter WAS a work of genius before becoming a hellraiser movie, the script was originally written to stand on its own two feet and then got altered to fit into the Hellraiser mythos.
It features plenty of gore, tense moments, representations of fetishist sex and a mind-fuck storyline. It took me a little bit of time to look back at the movie to grasp its finer concepts, which are very, very well told. Now that I have done some research on it, it is easy to see where the film got altered to fit in with Hellraiser (pinhead appears for maybe 2 minutes of screentime in total) and this can be peeled back in the mind’s eye to reveal the masterpiece underneath.
I give this movie a resounding 4 out of 5. It could have been a 5 *sigh*
