Comms back up again, torpedos ready to fire captain

Once again comms are back and everything is as it should be, surprsingly things have been very quiet since I’ve come back. Maybe things are just the same and my competancy with this job has risen to the point I find it easy.. 🙂 who knows? 🙂 🙂

Anyway, saw “Unleashed”

The action was great, as per Jet Li’s expected performance. The mix of what is quite a hard-core action movie (it get’s fairly bloody and violent, even for Jet, definately not mainstream) is played against a backplot almost reminescent of “The Lavender Ladies” where music and instruments play a major role is actually pulled off quite well. Although there is a visible jarring between the story lines this juxtopostion is in fact what gives the movie the charm it needs to get away from just being another mindless action flick and becoming a mindless action flick with cheesy morals. Also, there is a distinct absence of ‘beautiful people’, even Jet plays a less then perfect hero.
3.5/5…. enjoyable? yes. Remember it in 10 years? no.

I also watched “The Woodsman” (yeah, one of those days where I had enough time to watch two movies).

What I anticipated to be a horror movie about a mutant lumberjack turned out to in fact be a movie about the struggle of a convicted pedophile return to society after a 12 year jail sentance.
It offered very little social commentary, rather what would be considered a realistic view from the eyes of the man. Kevin Bacon for once plays a role to almost oscar winning potential were it not for the controversial subject matter.
4/5
